    225 E-TEC over heating

    this engine is on my fathers 520 ranger he just put it on a month ago. ITS a 2007 engine when he runs 4-5 miles at 5000+ rpms it over heats and computer shuts down to 1200 rpms, dealer cant figure it out replaced water pump but did not solve problem. any help would greatly appreciated. BRP supposed to send special tech to look at it but dont know when. thanks in advance.

    water temp warning light comes on

    The dealer should check the water pressure at the overheating speed as well as use an infrared temp gun to verify the overheat, and not rule out a faulty sender. The motor height could be too high or the motor trimmed out too far also.

    There is a pressure relief valve on the back of the motor that should be inspected internally for any debris or sticking.

    Also the hull should not have any transducers, thru-hulls, pickups, etc within 17" of the engine centerline. Any items like these can disrupt the clean water flow to the gearcase inlet screens.

    they already lowered motor some first thing they tried
