    Hot shot plate

Does anyone know of any setups that have a hot shot type plate as shown below on a Detwiler Hydro (MarineTech) jackplate with a 10" setback? I would like to see some ideas, or find an aftermarket plate that will work on my setup. This supposedly increases your hole shot up to 20% by preventing water from going up into the jackplate cavity when trying to get on plane. The model shown below is for a Pro Hi-Jacker setup, and sells at Cabelas for $45.

A holeshot plate will definitely help, but not sure that it would improve your holeshot by 20%. It doesn't prevent water from going up into the jackplate; the water is there from when you're sitting before you hit the throttle.

    Al,
With his current situation, he's not necessarily worried about the water already there. Certainly if he could get rid of that as well, that would be a bonus. However, in his situation, he actually has water FLOWING up and out the top of the plate. The plate is scooping water from under the boat until the boat is going fast enough to get some air between the plate surface and the water surface. Then his boat rips out of the bottom.

Hmmm..........well a holeshot plate would definitely fix that problem.

Looks like any good sheetmetal shop could make you one. This might help.

    Re: Hot shot plate (arkbuck)

Basketballs in the jackplate will provide a lot of floatation....the boat will sit higher at rest but it will also greatly improve a holeshot. When you're taking off there's very little water getting caught up in the jackplate because of the water displacement of the basketballs. Lots of guys use them, not just Gambler guys.

Ran this plate on a 91 206 TE. 10" manual jackplate with a 2.5L, 200Merc. Helped a lot on the holeshot. Bought it from a fellow BBC member in New Mexico.
