    New to g3

So I have just purchased a 2004 g3 hp 180. It has a yamaha 150 four stroke on it. So far I am really happy with it. It pulls far easier than my old fiberglass boat and handles the water just as good. I have had it at 55 mph on the gps. But I think I can get a little more. The prop is a stock 21m. If anyone has any suggestions for me on the set up I would appreciate it. Thanks guys

I would love to have your setup. I see about 35mph by myself and a ton of tackle but 55 would be awesome! The only time you will really miss that heavy glass boat is on windy days when the wind is blowing you around like a dang bottle cap in a pool!! I don't have any suggestions for increased speed for you other than perhaps considering a jack plate or a larger pitched prop. You may gain a couple of MPH from a jack plate but unless you can increase your prop pitch, you probably won't see a huge gains.

I don't have any prop suggestions regarding your HP, hopefully someone else with one will come on and post what they are running. I do want to welcome you to the G3 board! Post pics if you've got 'em.

    The vmax 150 will turn a 25p just fine - around 5500 rpm @ 58 to 60 mph
the last 5 mph are hard to get & keep not a real pleasant ride.
I have a trophy 24p that gives the best all around drivability and performance.
Much easier to trim, and not porpose. Not nearly as much bow rise more stern lift and less back wash. Just the difference in 3 blades vs 4.

Put as good/strong of a trolling motor on it as you can afford - it is a wind magnet.

The carbed vmax runs best when it is run often - enjoy.

    Re: New to g3 (Trent_in_BG)

Do you guys think I can turn a 24p trophy plus? I have a yamaha hub kit, thinking about trading with a guy I have a 26 p trophy that came off my old boat. Thanks for all the info guys, only problem that I have had is the boat tends to Porpous a lot, and I am thinking a four blade prop will help.

    Re: New to g3 (fox150)

Read my earlier post, not sure what the difference is between Trophy and a Tropyhy + ...
I would like to find a large hub 4 blade (cheap) - you will need a blowout ring on that Mercury prop.

    Re: New to g3 (mcneal)

I have a blow out ring, I was thinking I could turn it. I don't have nothing to lose really on trading I won't ever use that 26 anymore. Thanks again for all the help.
