I just purchased a new G3 1756 SC. Can anybody tell me what gauge wire is running from the trolling motor to the batteries?
Thanks

8 gauge I think...saw it somewhere recently, might've been their web site.
Most come with 8 gauge unless a 24V TM is standard. You cna use a 24V with 8 gauge, just not one with more than 40 -50 amps

I have a MinnKota Maxxum 70SC shows current draw of 42 amps. If I round up, according to the MinnKota chart, I'm drawing 1.26 volts with a recommended limit of 1. Now, if I round down, I'm @ 1.024 which should be acceptable for 8 gauge.
In other words, I should have requested 6 gauge from the factory for the worst case scenario. In the best case scenario, I'm pushing it but should be okay.
A chart I looked at recently said 8 ga. will carry up to 54 amps

Yeah, I called minn kota today and discussed the chart. The rep said "6". I got the feeling there is a royal P.I.T.A. brewing on this one!
The 6 gauge would be better because you would have better resistance and more efficient, but you won't be running that 70 on full throttle constantly.........would you?
If full throttle draws 42 amps, at half would probably draw 30?
From what the dealers I have been talking with it is no big deal to change out the 8 gauge.

I got a chance to talk with the dealer today as my new boat arrived yesterday. It seems G3 makes all their boats 12/24 compatible. Does that mean it's 6 gauge or 8 gauge? I don't know. I do know it means it comes with a 24V plug and a 50AMP circuit breaker. Sounds to me, case closed!
If you are concerned - why don't you just pull 6 gauge and not worry about it.
