    Livewell Question

I have the Eagle 175, I am wanting to get back into tournament fishing..I have kept fish in my livewell on several fishing trips after about 3-4 hrs the fish are stressed and rolling on their sides..So I release them..Yesterday day I had about 12 lbs of fish in the well biggest about 4lbs..Water temp was 75..After a 3 hrs fish started stressing..I have a 27 gallon well with a 500gph pump..Will a recirclate help keep the fish from stressing?

    Re: Livewell Question (RETRO)

yes, or run yours on manual and not recirc. You need to move more water and keep it as fresh as possible. When the heat really gets here, you will need to recirc on manual with some kind of treatment.

    Re: Livewell Question (RETRO)

I have the same boat with the same problem. I fished a tx on sunday. I had 11lbs of fish and my co-angler had 8. I put ice in the livewell in the morning and added Catch & Release every 2 hours. By weigh in time we had 3 dead fish. I am in search for a solution. Some friends recommended using the airator system with the stones, kind of like an aquarium. BPS sells them. But I'm open for sugestions.

I called flow rite..You can add a recir pump to it..Go to their website click on build a livewell system click on system 3.I think being to able to cool the water and keep it cool and recirculate that water will help keep the fish calm and alive. It will be pricey to switch about $150 but if it works well worth the $$$

    Re: Livewell Question (RETRO)

i bumped my pump up to a 750 and added a pro air. never have any issues. and no need to run the pump all day. the 750 can change out alot of water fast. and the pro air helps.... i also added a secondary much larger pump to fill the well quickly, and can serve as a emergengy backup if main pump fails

    Re: Livewell Question (g3mike)

Put the pro air bubbler system in my Eagle 175 about 3 weeks ago. WOW what a difference it makes. A little ice, realease me, and the pro bubbler. the fish stayed alive and full of energy. fished a tx and had 89 to 90 degree water temps and about 30 lbs in the livewell. NO PROBLEMS. Now I have to figure out how to put a switch on the unit. Its a pain to keep opening the back hatch and disconnecting the unit from the battery.

    Re: Livewell Question (RETRO)

on my hp 180l there is a small metal shelf above the gas tank, i mounted my proair box there, and ran the air lines into the live well.. i also ran the wiring up to the main fuse box and added a switch to the steering console. that way when the master power switch is off so is the unit. cant post pics, but the install was very easy. and less that 100 bucks for everything.

    Re: Livewell Question (RETRO)

I bought one without the rails. I will try and get some pics. It was a lot easier than I thought. Mounted the unit in the battery compartment floor with sheet metal screws. I drilled holes in the top inside of livewell for the air hoses to pass thru, being careful not to push the drill bit into the gas tank. Hooked up the hoses and it was complete.

Livewell problem solved..I installed the proair and bought the baitsaver pump and installed that..I fished today water temp was 90, I pumped in the water plugged in the baitsaver and turned on the pro air poured in some fish saver and put in a 1/2 gallon jug of frozen water..In 15 mins had 75 degree water at 12:30 fish where fine water was still 78 degree's.
