    Livewell problem

Livewell pump number one has recently decided to stay in auto mode even when I have the switch set to manual. It kicks on every 3 minutes and runs for thirty seconds. Does this sound like something wrong with the wiring to the switch or the timer going bad? Where is the timer located on my 2000 190?

    2 more questions

I have not found the livewell timer yet, but have 2 more questions. When the switch is turned to manual, does it bypass the livewell timer completely or is each position on the switch wired to the timer? If the manual position on the switch is not wired to the timer, I would think it would have to be a problem with the switch itself. I have 2 pumps. Pump 2 is working fine. Is each pump wired to a seperate timer, or are both pumps wired to the same timer? Just trying to eliminate some possibilities. Thanks for any help you can give.

    Re: Livewell problem (dc)

The timer on my 188 is a circuit board that is zip tied up under the dash and my pumps are wired together on it so that they both come on and off at the same time.

    Re: Livewell problem (TomM)

Thanks for the info Tom. I solved my problem late last night while standing on my head with a flashlight in my mouth in 200 degree heat. The black wire to the pump had a loose connection where it had been spliced, causing the pump to stay in auto mode, so I did not need to go looking into the timer or switch components thank goodnesss. Since I am in livewell repair mode, now if I would like to figure out a way to make my livewell pumps less noisy. I thought about maybe wedging something between the bottom of the pump and the hull? Anybody have any ideas on how to deaden the sound of the pumps?
