Trim Help <!>?

I have a 92 Evinrude on a 92 Stratos. I was out last month all the sudden the trim started going down<wihile I was flying down the lake> When I came to a stop the only way that I could get it to trim up is to put the boat in reverse. The trim swich up front and the one on the wheel dont do anything. I went out and bought new relay switches thinking that would fix it but I was wrong. Is there someone out there that can please help me out on this. Any help is greatly appreciated.

There can be up to 4 switches for the trim on a boat. The front, the steering column, the throttle (forward reverse shifter) and on the side of the engine. The shorted one will overide all the others, so you will have to isolate (disconnect them one at a time) until you find the one that is bad. when you disconnect the bad one the others will function normally. Hope this helps.

Was the trim motor running the entire time or was it just leaking down?

It runs all the time. When it is up and then when it is down. Is there somewhere I can get a manual to show me where these swiches are?

Pull the big red plug apart on the left side of the motor. You will still be able to trim up and down with the motor trim. If it goes crazy with the big plug disconnected it is the motor button. The bow switch is easy just pull the switch plate off and disconnect one lead (blue) reconnect the plug and see if it runs, if not there is your problem.

OK guys. Thank you for your help. I went to take the throtle off and found that there were 3 wires that were cut. I fixed them and it works.
