    Seats

My seats are looking pretty ratty after 12 years. Deans wants almost $700 for a new bench only. A local shop wants over $800 to redo the bench, butt and sit down seats. Has anyone installed the seats from the boatseatstore in their Cobra?

No, but if you measure everything and get all the measurements from boatseats.com, I don't think you could go wrong if they will fit. They are good looking seats.

Yeah, they are nice looking. I have the measurements and will probably just call them. I watched the installation video on their site, and where they screw the seats to is where my gas tank is.

Talk with Cleveland about the install. She will know better than anyone about where that tank is exactly. The other thing I would worry about is the height of the seat back.

    Re: Seats (Psychologist)

I installed seats from boatseats.com and they didnt work very well. They are very comfortable if you can get them angled just right. they sit at almost an exact 90 degree angle. What I did is shave some pressure treated 2 by 4 on a 45 degree angle and glued it down to the front side of where the seats fasten then if you are careful there is a gap between where the gas tank is located and where the seat screws go the fiberglass is about 3 quarters of an inch above the tank and the same from the front of the tank. So get screws that penentrate a quarter of an inch through the fiberglass after they go through the wood. Im hoping with the gorrilla glue and the screws it will stay put. Then just carpet the wood. The other downfall is the seats are solid the backs dont fold forward so the two back compartment lids hit on the backs when angled. You may be able to angle the seats less if you cut the wood smaller but because they are mounted on hinges on the front what I did was just lift the seats up a little so the lids would clear. They looked great and rode nice though. I wouldnt buy seats from Deans they are garbage I bought a set from them and they were cheesy and fell apart in 2 years. I had to sell my Cobra and I sure miss it.

    Re: Seats (UtahAngler)

Thanks. I did work out the mount/gas tank issue. I took the seats off and took some pictures and sent them to some folks in the General Bassboat Topics board and they were very helpful.

UtahAngler, you wouldn't happen to have pictures of the way you mounted those seats, do you?
