    Cobra Transducer mounting

I have a Lowrance LCX-25C that i moved from my old boat. I wish to mount the transducer but i don't know where thee best location will be on the 216 hull. i wanted to do in hull if i could and i want to maintain a reading while running on pad. where is the best location and what process do i have to go through to mount that transducer.

Under the batteries near the bilge plug. I would suggest staying about 3 inches from the plug so it doesn't tend to interfere with the drainage.

With it in place there do u have a reading all the way up to full speed?

Did u have to cut away part of the hull or did u form a barrier and fill it with epoxy.

I lose bottom at WOT. It's good to about 50-60 mph. I formed a barrier and I used fiberglass resin to eliminate the chance of bubbles. Not to mention I never felt like the little packet of epoxy was going to suffice for a good bond.

    Re: Cobra Transducer mounting (firekracker50)

I have a 1998 and I have 2 transd. in the hull. I placed mine just aft of the bilge pmp. tried to find alevel place but is hard to find a place that is level. I removed the plastic discharge hose from bilge pump and caught plastic tie wire holding bilge pmp in place and moved it out of the way. Sandpapered a area bigger than transducer to clean it good then spread a tube of Lowrance transducer epoxy on spot. Stuck transducer in place and held it for several minutes till epoxy started to harden(tested with toothpick) than let set till next day and was good to go.
Also mine does not read on plane and I don't know if its from speed or the fact that the water I'm usually running on is over 100 ft. Hope this long response helps.

thanks allot guys for in input... hopefully someone will post that doesn't loose sonar at WOT.

Maybe i should opt for mounting it on the transom. Anyone tried that?

If you're not sure about the location, you can place a sandbag or something similar on top of the transducer. Build a dam out of plumbers putty, duct seal, ect. so that it will hold water around the puck to prevent air from getting under it. You still may want to sand the hull a bit to provide a smooth surface for the puck to rest on. Then make several dry runs to determine the best location. Once you find the best location then you will feel more at ease before permanently mounting it. I did my other boat (Ranger) that way. Just my 2 cents worth.
