How can I access this area?? I have to replace mine before this weekend. I just bought a used lowrance x-85 and do not want to put the transducer on my trolling motor. Also, what is the best epoxy to use??
Thank you

I moved my X85 from the dash to the front and just used the existing connections that were for my X45,or 47, can't remember which but was original equipment, worked like a champ!!
Otherwise I believe the front transducer is located under the front drain, which puts anything you see on your graph at least 6' behind you. For my new setup I have the tranducer on the T motor, much better!!!![]()
I really don't want the hassle of always smacking that front transducer around on the trolling motor. We fish very shallow around here. I appreciate your reply!
Problem being, I am pretty sure the front transducer is bad. Any other help?
On the 201d I had, the front transducer was bonded to the inside of the bottom under the front drain. When mine went bad I also mounted it to the tm.

If you fish so shallow, then why do you need a meter?

My 190 was the same way. The TD was somewhere in the middle of the boat which defeats the purpose of the thing. When you are at the pointy end of the boat you want to see what is below you, not 5 feet behind you. Anyhow, I do believe the 201's have an access door on the florr and this should lead you to the transducer. Check out the electronics forum and they can tell you the best type of epoxy, good luck. BTW, You may not want to epoxy that thing down till you know for sure it will shoot through and send a good reading, try it in the water first.
We don't fish that shallow year'round!
The guys are right... the transducer is glued in just below the front drain. If you have the front deck insert, you are going to have to remove it first before you can take the screen off of the drain in the front so you can reach the bilge. You might try to find someone with small arms and small hands to reach down in there. I think the front drain is just wide enough for my hand to fit through. Mine didn't go bad, I just wanted to have a more accurate reading at the front so I added trolling motor mount for my X85. Mine has been mounted to the trolling motor for 7+ yrs and I've only broken one transducer as a result of hitting a log on Lake Fork (hit that sucker so hard I bent the trolling motor shaft).I routinely fish Conroe, Livingston, Sam Rayburn, Toledo Bend, Limestone, and occasionally Caddo, and Lake Fork... and I've only broken one transducer... those things are much tougher than you give them credit.
As for epoxy... I had to re-glue the rear transducer several years ago and I just used the standard 5 minute epoxy you find a Walmart, Ace Hardware, Lowes, or Home Depot. Just make sure you clean off the area inside the boat where you are going to glue, rough up the surface of the transducer a bit with sandpaper, and make sure there are no air bubbles in your epoxy mix when you stick that transducer to the hull...

This might be something for you to consider: http://transducerarmor.com/ This is currently being sold by a BBC sponsor with free shipping untill the end of December. Works with either a skimmer type transducer (as shown) or a puck type.
I had an extra transducer mounted toward the bottom of the hull just forward of the floor drain like the others are talking about but never used it. I had it installed so I would have a spare in the event the one I had mounted on the trolling motor got knocked off during a tournament. You'll get better feedback if you mount your transducer on the bottom of the trolling motor than using one that has to shoot through a hull.

I thought I would be on Easy Street by now but somehow I missed the off ramp!
