Time for a tear down oversize the cylinder to .030 and put in new piston set and needle bearings. Get a shop manual.
Before you start to tear that engine down, first try this. Remove all sparkplugs. Add some cycle 2 oil too that cylinder with only 50lbs. of compression. Let the oil stand on that cylinder over night. ( Of course with the engine tilted up). The next day , crank the engine a couple of times and then take another reading from that low compression cylinder and see if it increased back to normal.
I had a 1989 150XP, that one of the cylinders had gotten hot and the rings got stuck on to the piston causing a very low compression reading. A reliable mechanic told me to do what I just explained and the compression was back up to 105 lbs. The engine is still being used today by a friend. Try this , you have nothing to lose. Worst case you have to rebuild your engine.
The cylinder more than likely got hot from a bad H20 deflector in the H20 passage. Glad you had sucess by oiling the cylinder.
I was definitely lucky , Fred. If not , I would have a worthless 150 XP on my hands.
Ain't now such thing as a worthless motor.
