    Bilge diving recirc valve

I have a 1998 201D that has the 3 way style live well control switch. I can't keep water from filling my live wells. When switch is in "OPEN" position water is not suppose to enter live wells. I'm hoping all I need to do is clean valve. Has anyone done this or do I need to look for a new valve.

Re: Bilge diving recirc valve (etecviper)

If its the flo-rite valve, carefully remove it, pay attention to how the connections are made (take a digital pic). When I did it, I found what almost seemed like a calcium build-up that restricted the flaps of the valve from functioning correctly. A tooth brush and some WD-40 cleaned it up. Worked like new. However, replacing the valve, cable and switch was a pretty inexpensive fix also $60 -$70 depending on shipping and the newer valve has many improvements.
    Good luck.
Be careful not to put too much pressure on the other hoses that lead to the thru hull fittings. The plastic weakens over time and they break.
