Need a little help removing motor to repower.

I have found me a 2003 Evinrude 225HO that I am going to repower with. I currently have a 2000 Evinrude 225 Ficht Ram with a busted block that I am removing. The dealer said it would save me some money if I go ahead and remove my old motor. I was wondering what all I would need to remove and what to leave hooked to the boat. I am going to keep my Hydraulic Jackplate and Hydraulic steering for sure. Since they are the same brand motor what is the best way to disconnect everything. This my first try at doing this and I would appreciate a little guidance. Thanks in advance for any information. Tnfish.

Everything (wire and hoses) that goes into the motor you can disconnect under the cowl. When you disconnect the steering make sure you unbolt the rod that goes int the tude on the motor and that is the only thing you need to. Don't touch the lines or the rod the cylinder rides on. If you have the mean to take the motor off you can also put it on.

Thanks for info. Installation was part of the deal. I will get some practice after I get my old motor built and back from Monty's. I have just got to find a decent block.
