Replacement gas tank-Viper 202

I have a 2001 Viper Coral 202FS that I recently purchased from the original owner. The boat is in great shape. However, a leak has just developed along a top seam in the molded gas tank. I don't really understand how this could happen. I called INCA Molded Products, the manufacturer of the tank, and they don't make the tanks anymore and the molds are no longer available. The model number on the tank is FO4087. It's a 40 gallon tank. Does anyone know where I can pickup a replacement tank, or does anyone have a "spare" FS 202 tank? Also, is it possible to repair my plastic tank? Thanks.

This could very well be your cheapest fix. You might want to look into this product a little more. I know it's been used many times to repair metal tanks (after proper preparation) and it says it can also be used on fiberglass. However, I would call the company first and ask some pretty direct questions before I started messing around with a gas tank. Be sure to find out how you should prepare the tank before applying the product; and must the product be placed on the inside of the tank in order to be effective. (I don't see why it couldn't be used on the outside of the tank as long as the surface was "roughed up" a little before application, but.....check with the company). Hope this helps.

Thanks for the info. I will look into the repair using this product. To keep my options open, I wonder if anyone out there has a "salvage" Viper Coral 202 that they would sell the gas tank?
