    Carpet replacement?

I need to replace the front carpet...my question is how to do it with the riveted trim molding? Is it easy to just put new rivets back in when complete?

    Re: Carpet replacement? (Cobra_190)

I replaced the carped in my old boat but it did not have the metal trim you are talking about. I used screws and dimpled washers to help hold it in place on the deck. I believe you will have a very hard time trying to line new rivits up with the existing holes, unless you can salvage the old metal and re-use it in the exact places; but there are a lot of rivits, I now have the same boat as you. Having replaced carpet once before, I can honostly tell you I will pay whatever it costs to have it done by someone else. The most time consuming upgrade I have ever done. Not to mention a pain in the butt, thank God it was only 16 feet long. So in short---pay someone. Good luck

If you haven't already done so, click on "Search" in the upper right hand corner of the board and type in "carpet."

Also, I think fishmoore (cobra owner) had posted up a bunch of pictures when he pimped out his rig. I believe it is over in the resto section. I remember reading that he had taken the rivets out and replaced them somehow.

I would like to replace my carpet too but I think I am going to take it to someone. I just wouldn't have the time or patience for it.

    Good luck

I just replaced my carpet a couple months ago and the trim was no biggie. All you need to do is drill the old rivet out, pull the trim off, recarpet and rivet it back on. Make sure to use aluminum rivets. If you have any ? email me.

I just had my Cobra 180D recarpeted and new seat covers made. I had someone else do it. It was well worth the cost. the trim was no problem to put back. Will have pics next week.

Well I have been out of the country for a while, so i'm just trying to catch up.

The trim is no big deal. just drill the rivets out the same size as the new ones and they pop right out.

I also polished mine while it was out with Flitz. Looks like new.

    Good luck.

    Re: Carpet replacement? (cobraglin)

Had mine redone on my 201 at Dean's Canvis in Mountain Home, AR and he charged me $600 to replace all the carpet you could see, this did not include the insides of the rod boxes, under the leds but I went back with a color that was close enough to the orginal that it wasn't a issue. I was so happy with that I had him build be some seats and send them to me.
