    201 jp and prop

I'm looking to replace my blown 200 with a used 225 efi, I have a 6" manual jp now and would like more set back, my plan was to get a 10" manual, I've seen a couple 12" for sale recently and I'm wondering if that is too much set back. Boat is a 97. Merc motor. My reason for wanting more set back is bow lift, I don't care about a couple mph, also don't want to sacrifice hole shot.
What is the best prop and jp combo for this hull and motor to get the nose up some.

Tom, in about a week or two I will have a 10" T&H Marine Manual Plate for sale as I am installing a ydraulic plate. The best prop for bow lift is a Tempest. However, some prop guru's can work a Trophy for bow lift also.

Depending on which jackplate you have, you may be able to purchase a 4" extention for it and save a little cash.

I thought I would be on Easy Street by now but somehow I missed the off ramp!

Ya , but is a 12" plate too much set back or too much stress on a 9 year old transom.

I'm talking about adding the 4" extention to the 6" plate you have now making it a 10". And you're absolutely correct, too much setback can work against what you're trying to accomplish. 8" or 10" offset would be about what you should be looking at.

Thanks Larry, maybe Gary can tell me how much for his 10" jp. I've got a 25 tempest I'll try first and go from there.
