    WestTX 201D/Big Bass

OK guys, here's a tidbit. Venom Boats took care of getting me into an awesome 2002 201D - she runs great and fishes better. I have a 200 Johnson LTD Edition (1996) on it and GPS'd 67 this weekend at lake Fork (fully loaded with only one fisherman) on the way home. I think I can get a little more out of her with a little setup work.

There are two things that I want to stress:

VENOM BOATS WILL TAKE CARE OF YOU! If Ed Fry gives you his word he'll follow up and make you happy. We agreed on a deal on a used boat they had come across. They re-rigged it with all of my old equipment and it looks just like a new boat. They did a great job. Kathy can clean one up like no other (my motor even looked new and it was in bad shape when I left it there.) The most impressive thing to me was the extras and add-ons they took care of and didn't raise the price AS EXPECTED. I expected the out the door price to be quite a bit higher than it ended up and I really appreciate that.

2nd - and equally as important for an uneventful board is a photo of me and a nice fish from Fork! Caught on a topwater no less. Note: that is a sweet boat posing with me.

Kathy, please upload the photo I'm emailing to you.

    Thanks!

Will, very happy that things finally worked out for you. Looks like the old red Viper is now nothing more than a memory. (Maybe it will end up at the bottom of Lake Norfork as a fish crib! ) I must say, you've shown the patience of Job and it's paid off. And yes, I totally agree with you about Ed...he's a man of his word! It's very satisfying to know, especially in this day and age, that there are still people around who mean what they say. Personally, I have nothing but the highest regard for everyone connected with Venom Boats, the makers of the best darn bassboat in the industry...Cobra!

    Nice fish!!

Looks like us West Texas boys are about the only ones that can catch some nice fish!! (just kidding, backlash has one on here that is an elephant!)

Hey WestTX, we ought to get together and run them out on Alan Henry, and add some more big fish pics to this board.

    Good lookin rig!

By the way, isn't a 200 LTD rated out as a 225? My brother has the same motor with a carb kit, made it the same motor as the 225.

    Boots,

I am out there from time to time. Have you seen this boat out there?

Give me a shout if you see me on the water, I usually try to go out during the week to avoid all the congestion at the ramp.

    Re: WestTX 201D/Big Bass (boots & tx201)

Hey Guys, sorry that I haven't been around lately. I would love to meet up with either or both of you at Alan Henry (are either of you headed that way this weekend?) I have a hunting lease that encompasses all of little Grape. I've only fished there once since getting my boat back - and didn't do too well. It was during that weekend of rain and storming though.

Fished 25' grass at Amistad Tuesday and Wednesday of last week - caught some nice fish - 6.5lbs being the big fish. She pulled harder than anything I've ever fought (and caught.)

All of this talk about setup/props has me interested again.

Don't know the rating of 200 Ltd. but have always suspected as much, as I've always hung with or outran most 225's. Not doing so good now though - 63 GPS full load - 5900 RPM.

Venom Board tourney at AH one morning this weekend? Lottery tickets as entry fees - big fish posted on bragging board? Direct email if you wish: willX@XcaltechX.Xcom (remove all X's.)

    Let me know.

    westex,

Sorry I didn't get back to you earlier, I was planning on going to AH this Sat., but ended up helping my brother get some work done. I don't get sore fishing, but hanging sheetrock will let you know where all those unused muscles have been hiding!

We will definately have to get together. I am fishing a tournament at Ivie on the 10th and occasionally we will fish Nasworthy as a club. You are welcome to join us anytime.

Call me sometime and lets go stick some fish!
