    Re: Installing HDS8 on 07' 200 elite (FEARTHETURTLE210)

I used a Ram Mount Base 2.5. I flattened the inside and outside by screwing it down to a piece of 1x and cutting it on a table saw w/a rip fence. The only mistake I made was making the cuts parallel. If I had it to do over, I would angle the inside cut slightly. I would look a little better and would allow you to slide it aft another 1/4" or so. It is mounted to the console with 3 5/16x2" Oval head stainless steel screws with stainless flat washers and fiber lock nuts securing the bottom. It is SOLID!!

Still have some work to do, hence the unfinished install. Had a trip to Amistad the end of January and needed to get it mounted to try out the Structure Scan ... Still had to get the long 2.5 RAM arm to get the HDS-10 out away from the console, but the setup works great.

I'll be pulling the X135 out of the panel and replacing it with my LMS-520c that is currently on the bow. I bought a HDS-7 for the bow and plan to network all 3 units with NMEA & E-Net ...

Sweet Reggie, thanks for the pics, this gives me the right layout for the ram. I was thinking the same thing up front, add a 7 in bow and connect that to my 10 on a ram mount. Can you post pics when you get finished..Thanks Don

Looks great, did you also put apiece of 1x underneath to reenforce? Is that the smaller ram with the 1.5 ball and how does it hold that hds 10? could you take some pics of the whole unit on mount. also would like to see pics of the structure scan transducer mounted if its not to much trouble thanks.

No, the glass on the console is about 3/8" thick. If I would have backed it up with anything, it would have been a piece of aluminum or steel just to distribute the load.

No, it's the 2.25 balls (RAM-D-111U) with the long arm. They recommend the short arm version for the 10, but it didn't give me enough clearance. I ran it 3 days on Amistad and it seemed solid as a rock. About 1.5' rollers was the worst water I ran and speeds up to 70 GPS.

I'll shoot some pix of it all next weekend at our club tourney. The LSS-1 transducer is mounted with a Transducer Shield & Saver TS-LSS-1 mounted to a LB-SM-6/8 on my jack plate. when I get through, it will have some of the woven sleeving around the wired exiting from under the poly mount.
