    03 187 help please

I have a 03 187dc with a vmax150. It has a 23m prop, 10 inch jackplate set at 4.5in below pad, tach reads 5800rpm at wot, and runs 57mph with two people and 59mph single person. I have read several post about how the jackplate should be set a little higher, but when i tried to go higher motor would "blow out" when turning. So i went back down, at 4.5 below pad it runs pretty good if you trim motor up very very slow. But if you are not wot and hit the gas, you lose all the lift (like the front of the boat drops) The only way to get back all the lift is to trim back down then trim back up very very slow. Does this sound like a prop issue or jackplate or what. Just wnat to get best performance out of boat. The prop looks good (no nicks or chips). Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks

Sounds a lot like my 04 187 w/150 Opti. Are those GPS speeds? I never could get that boat figured out, but I had a very dinged up prop, and not a lot of time to mess with the set up. You say the prop is clean, have you tried any props for comparison?

I have wondered this myself. But my 04 had the 10in and it was factory (at least as well as I can remember it was a 10). Would like to have been able to try an 8 instead. It was suggested by several people on here at the time when I was asking the same questions. I'm going to see if I can find my pics to confirm it was a 10, I'm pretty sure it was a 10in slidemaster.

I just measure jackplate again and it is 10in (10 inch from back of boat to end of jackplate) I have not tried any other props and yes prop is in good condition. Just confused on what i should try next. Any suggestions, really dont know of anybody to borrow/try a prop from. Thanks

I had forgotten the latest ones had the 10". Not sure what ths problem is. Need to try different props. I hope you can locate a source of ones to try.....

Also, put heavier gear in rear storage....

What would cause the boat to lose lift when trimmed up and say i go from 3/4 throttle to wot? Do you think it is worth trying to fine tune the jackplate or does that not seem like the problem. Thanks

Prop is losing it's bite, it happens with the "M" sometimes, your solution is to send it to a KNOWN good prop guy, they can do wonders with that wheel.
