    Why I love my ChampioN

For the first time in a long while I got to fish 2 days in a row. Fished the infamous Clarks Hill Reservoir located on the Savannah River. Wind blew both days 15-25 from the NW or WNW.

Day One I fished out of a friends TRITON 20X. He is a great boat driver but it just couldn't handle the 1-2 footers very well. Now in fairness the area of the lake we were in creates some interesting wave patterns because of some shallow water and long points, not to mention is wide open for several miles in any direction so you get alot of straight line winds.

Day Two - CHAMPION 203 - same winds, same part of the lake, my 17 year old son driving, trimmed up just a little to keep the spray out of my face, 45-50 mph felt like riding in a caddilac. Can't imagine ever buying another boat.

So the next time you get NEW BOAT FEVER, go for a test ride on a windy day.

    Peace,
    Don<><

Getting to be an old man to have the son chauffuer you around. Get off the wallet and buy a new elite with a SHO on it and donate your ride to charity.

I hear that! First off, about 2 weeks ago I went out in my old Nitro 901 with my buddy that I sold it to. At first I was a little jealous of the amount of deck room. But that went away when we hit our first wake and it rocked the boat. My 187 wouldn't have even felt that wake. Then 2 days ago I took my 187 out in 25mph winds and kept the boat at about 40mph and it rode like it was flat calm. I just can't see how a boat could ride any better.

So the next time you get NEW BOAT FEVER, go for a test ride on a windy day. Well put!

And I'm certain now that if I ever decide to go bigger, it will be a ChampioN 203.

Hey Don...new boat fever??? Aimed at anyone we know? I was on Murray this past weekend and the guys I fished with all headed off down the sheltered bank from the dam landing to the west. Not me...headed right over due south in the 3 foot rollers toward jakes. Gotta love them Champs. Now my 50 year old back...that's another story.

    Larry,

    Did you catch any fish?

    Fred,

Make your check out to Isaac. He's saving up for a boat, but you knew that. I learned a lesson when I sold my vette - Cheri says that was a once in a lifetime deal. I'm not about to let my ChampioN out of my sight......

    Peace,
