    Big Pike.....

Yesterday I filled my 187 with pike for the Mrs. I caught 5, but kept the 3 biggest which were 5lb 13oz, 11lb 4 oz, and this beast came in at 15lbs 10 oz. I completely filled one of our sinks with meat. The day before (sunday) I caught a mess of perch. Love the fall!

Turned the Champ into a fillet station cuz the fish were too big to do in the house! I hope my bass club sees these pics, these 3 fish would have eaten ALOT of bass.

Thanks guys (and gal) That Budweiser was good. Nothing like a cold beer after a great day on the lake!

I just counted and I ended up with 9 quart freezer bags of meat.

Nice pike. I have a friend that pickles them. Have not tried it but, he loves it.

Going to Pierre this weekend with my 2 sons for the grouse opener. Thinking about dragging the champ up with me.

do you ever get to pierre for fishing?

Nice catch Roy. You can keep them toothy critters! Is all they do is tear up my tackle!

I have pickled them and its really good! As for Pierre, I have fished there quite a bit, even did a couple of tournaments including one where I got 3rd place. I didn't go this year tho, just decided to stay close to home and pound on the fish from my local lakes.

I wish you lived closer too, Lea! I would love to have a beer with you.

I fish toothy critter waters all the time. I rarely get bit off. Now my partner on the other hand gets bit off all the time. He doesn't set the hook soon enough...imo

    Re: Big Pike..... (sodaksker)

I agree with that most of the time sodakster. I have an 18lb 4oz pike on my wall that I caught with 12lb flouro and a Bomber 6a crank. There is, however, the occasional time when I'm throwing a fluke and they just inhale it so fast that they get up on the line and they're bit off before I can react. Good thing flukes are cheap.

2 weeks ago I lost a spinnerbait to a 25lber because he got into the submerged brush and broke me off. I went back for him, but ended up with the 15 10 in the pic. Not 25, but good enough.

Well down here in Southeast Texas we only read about Pike , Walleye, Sturgeon and etc. Sometimes we see them on TV. As for toothy creatures, we don't have many in fresh water. Now we have Crabs, crayfish and all will pinch ya. Salt water is a little different Sheepshead- Teeth like a human, Red drum abrasive lips that will take the hide off. Speckle Trout 2 or more teeth, Needle nose Gar , a mouth full of teeth and lives in brackish or fresh water. Would someday like to catch me a pike to see it up close.

Well the 2' snakes up here are apparently faster than I am - They always hit from the side and when you do hook them - they are gone (along with my jig) as soon as they turn their head & run those little sharp teeth across my floro
