    please help with trailer vibration--thanks

I stopped at a light about 5 miles from home and noticed some vibration when taking off. Thought it was just a rough road. By the time I got home the vibration was much worse. Bearings are cool after 60 mile tow in 90 degree heat. Was on vacation last week and noticed a brief screeching sound twice after trailer had set in parking lot all day while I fished, but no squealing when braking, like I would expect if pads were worn and nothing unusual any other time. Can easily push boat in my garage. Springs look OK but obviously I'm not an expert. I'm thinking must be brake problem. The vibration is so bad that hopefullly can get my dealer to come look at it at my house. Will appreciate any ideas re: what's likely the problem. Thanks!

You may have slung a balance weight or may have a tire that is starting to separate. I'd definitely give the tires and wheels a close inspection. You could also get someone to follow you down the street looking for a bouncing tire.

You need to get this addressed before you cause damage to your trailer and boat ...

I would also inspect the tires very closely. Soemthing else I would do is jack up one side of the trailer at a time and spin the wheels to see if you can isolate which wheel the vibration is coming from. This will rule out a lot of things and may help you get a feel for whats vibrating.

Thanks for your help. Took a closer look and found that one of the brake modules (correct word?) had come completely off. I had a blow-out on that wheel about 6 weeks ago and that's probably what caused it. Removed tire and was able to get the module off, so at least I can tow it someplace to get it fixed. Could have been a lot worse, as it apparently started to come loose about 5 miles from home after being on vacation for 1 week.
