    Something I read today...

I read on one of my local fishing boards that the new Stratos Champion Elites have a Champion deck mould on a Stratos Hull mould. Please tell me that is not true.

I don't think they would fit together.

It looks like the whole thing is Champ. Stratos swell up in the back on the top cap.

Here is the post (for entertainment purposes). Can you tell he's a Triton dealer.

"Again, I have it from good sources(Triton, Ranger, Champ and Stratos all under one roof) That champions now have a Stratos Hull under the Champion deck mold, and Strats are not a great rough water boat. I would be looking at the Ranger given those choices for sure, I am very impressed with the rough water handling and ride of the new Triton XS series and haven't been in anything that rode better on Nipissing in anything from white caps too white knuckles the new xs is a sweet ride and easy to drive. Lenny Devos ran the 19xs this past season and says it was the best ride he has been aboard. I also agree with that, very smooth, quick holeshot, planes flat and at a low speed, slightly higher bow attitude than our Xseries so easy to keep dry when rough and really no wobble at speed even with a rookie behind the wheel."

Guys & Gals - The Stratos Champion Elite models are Champion decks and hulls. Only the sticker on the side has changed. They are great riding boats and we are proud to have them as part of the Stratos line up and part of the Stratos family.

PS. Lea - Thank you for doing such a great job.

Yep, sounds like your traditional run of the mill hater!! I've always wondered why Triton, if they had such a great hull to begin with, came out with the TR, X2, X3, XS, executive, blah, blah, etc. hull. It's like they can't combine the best of everything into one hull like other brands so you have to "pick" which hull you want and settle.

I think there is a tiny bit of truth in what the guy said about the Champion boats. The 200, 202, 183, and other recent Champion hulls, top caps, can stringers were designed at the Stratos plant by Stratos employees. Does that make them a Stratos hull ? One could argue. But, they're not Stratos hulls under a champ topcap.

Re: Something I read today... (Duane Harper)

Here's the history of the 3 Elite hulls. They are Champion hulls regardless of the hands that have touched them.

210 - Born from the 206 hull. Alan Stinson worked his mad genius on the bottom and added a few more inches to it, and the 210 hull was born. (True Champion offspring from the Mountain Home hulls)

202 - Born from the 198 hull which was born from the 196 hull. Again Alan working his magic when he created the 198 and the 202. (True Champion offspring from the Mountain Home hulls)

183 - Hull bottom started with the 187 hull, and again Alan worked his genius and gave reason to his being known as the best bass boat hull designer of all time. The 183 was considered a new creation for Champion because it evolved in the tooling shop far beyond the 187, but it did still begin using the 187 as its template. (From that perspective it is a True Champion offspring from the Mountain Home Hulls)

I hope this clears up the hull questions.

Well that explains why Skeet loves the 210 so much. The 206 is a really nice riding rig. It definitely left a lasting impression with me. It could use to be a little faster though, but then again I'm a speed junky. If the 210's ride is anything like the 206 ride, I could definitelty see the love affair. Just hope its faster... What kind of performance is expected from the 210, with say a 250 PXS?

Mid to upper 70's. Ask the poor SOB that rode with Steve Dyer up the river in NC. 210 is a big boat! I rode in Steve's boat on Norman and saw 77.X .

Glad to see my friend J B make the board. It helps not only with the brand but when issues come up that some one from the factory can put down quick.
Take care and give me a call some time.

    Jason's history lesson: 183

Hull bottom started with the 187 hull, and again Alan worked his genius and gave reason to his being known as the best bass boat hull designer of all time.

    Very nice read!

Butch 183CX: last true new hull in the Champ family, with the heritage to MT Home.

    Thank you Jason
