Have Mech check it, comp etc. check transom for flex and rot. Ride and decide!! Could be a great boat for not alot of money!

with that said how much wood is in one of these older champs? iv been around all kinds of champions and they all seem like great boats. Do they suffer from transom and floor rot?

Tough to say what model it is without any demensions. Could be a 184 or could be a 176 or it could be a 20 footer who knows.

ALL boats built with wood suffer from floor rot, transom rot and any other kind of wood rot if not properly cared for. Check it all out really good and then look closely around the floor drain(s). This area is one of the first places to start rotting on the floor of a boat.

If a boat with wood floor, stringers, transom, etc is properly cared for and every drilled hole (motor mount, etc) is properly sealed, there is no problem with wood. I had a 90 and a 99 model with wood. Still going strong today!

Get its dimensions and I should be able to tell you which model it is.
