Which rod holder organizing system is preferred by the Champ crowd?

Mine are Osprey and have worked well, but I do not know if thet are in Business any longer and I agree with Lea,,the Moosehead looks like a good product.

I looked at a couple of the Moosehead style systems and made mine myself. I used some thin plywood for the "antler" part, and used plywood and golf tubes for the front end. It works great, but I have designed a new antler piece that will work even better. I might have $25 in mine, and it is custom fitted to my boat. I'm stunned that I haven't seen another homemade holder ever, especially on here.

I have the Moosehead and like it, although in rough water it needs a strap over the top.

I completely agree with steve. I have pulled everyone of my organizers out of my champs because if you like long rods you have to place them very precisely and then you can only fit 12 if lucky. Go with the rod sleeves and color code for length and action, works much better and holds many more

I have a friend that makes the rod socks, and they work well. But they don't offer any protection to the reel. My reels rarely touch anything when they are in my rod box. And that is as important as keeping my rods untangled for me.

I could take a couple of pics with my iphone I suppose. Someone has taken my camera bag, and my usb cable is in it.

In lies the problem damage to your reels! Now some will say use reel covers as well. I say while you are un-wraping the goods I will be catching your fish.

There are a couple of homemade ones shown in the "Super Tips" section here on BBC. I bet Al could add yours to them and help someone else!!!

Not a real big fan of the Moosehead in mine, but it's better than anything else I've seen. Kind of a pain to get the bottom rods out.

There used to be one in the Super Tips on the old BBC site that was cool. I forget what brand boat it was in, but the rods mounted to the sides of the rod boxes using the Berkley rod holders. It would hold 12 rods per locker and leave the center of the locker free. I had tried to e-mail the guy, but never got a response.

I agree with these too...http://www.scottsrodsleeves.com/ The only problem I have with them is with some of my rods, I like to leave the lures/hooks tied on and then they get hooked on the sleeve itself. Wish there was something simple I could do about that....

I forgot about that idea. I used similar to those with good results in my Allison.
These look like a neater product than the ones I had.

I wonder how those would work if you used a shorter size???
Enough to slide em up front easier but short enough for a lure to be hooked on the hook holder.

I use the Rod Gloves - a sleeve type system and for drop shot rods where the hook is up the line, I use a small velcro wrap to hide the hook point and wrap the shank to the blank so it slides in and out no problem.

I find it to be the only suitable system for tournament fishing because there simply is not enough storage if you use both rod lockers for rods. I cram 16-25 in one rod locker and use the middle one for tackle and the other rod locker for just about everything else. I try to leave the rear passenger bin for the co-angler and the two rear driver's side ones for safety gear and culling equipment.

I have yet to "damage" a reel inside my rod locker running Erie in conditions most would not likely face on a regular basis.

Don't know if it'll be the end solution but looks worth a shot and they would still come in handy even with a Moosehead.
