While moving to the mountains, getting settled in, and having some motor problems my boat sat for about 5 years.
The sprayed on "auto" clear coat (previous owner) was in really bad shape.
The drains to the livewell didn't hold water and the livewell pump stopped working.
Power tilt/trim would not go up or down.
The old Lowrance X70A was giving fits.
Early last winter I decided enough was enough ! I love this ole boat and I am ready to get her on the water again.
So wet sanding began ( I couldn't take her to the shop looking so bad )![]()
Wet Sanding in progress:
All Shined up:
Removed the gas tank, so that the pump and trim motor could be accessed. I had to remove the sending unit on the gas tank so I could siphon out all of the old gas. It made the tank lighter as well. The float on the sending unit was made of cork which was starting to flake apart, so ordered a new one.
Replacing the livewell pump and valves turned into a much bigger task than I though. The hoses were hard and had shrunk the original tee fittings were 3/8 inch and most modern fittings today are 3/4![]()
Just had to improvise with new hose, and stretched the old out for the new valves.

While wrestling with the hoses, I cracked one of the thru-hull fittings![]()
Replaced that and the overflow fitting since I didn't have much faith in them now.
Since "I'm down here" I ordered my new HDS 5 so I could mount the transducer.
Sanded a spot for it.
I like it. The first GPS / Finder combo unit on my boat.
New pump and valves to empty the livewell (and keep water in)
The gas tank goes back in with new sending unit and hose:
New Livewell controls:
Hooked to the truck and ready to go
