I was thinking about getting passenger console for my 198 and I'm wondering if I can add one on my boat and how they attach. Ive seen other 08 198s for sale that mention removeable console etc. I have heard of some that can be taken off and put on just in minutes, how are those ones attached? When a person buys a second console does mounting hardware come with it?? Any help is appreciated, thanks.

My first question would be can you even get one anymore? Mine is a DC and there is 3 bolts into the gunnel and 3 into the rod locker - it is very solid. I don't know if the new Elites still have the removable setup like Phoenix has or not. I thought the 09's and 10's did. My boat came from Freedom Outdoors and they put it in before I picked it up. Check with a Champ dealer and see what they say. Good luck!

I think it was Freedom Outdoors offering one for sale not too long ago. I lost interest at the cost of having it painted to match my boat. There should be a few out there somewhere. They did say it could be attached for easy removal.
There are several colors on E-bay right now for $500 - If the one mounteted on my '09 comes off, I don't know how- It's fully carpeted underneath & I suspect the carpet is covering the mounting bolts... Either that or it's glassed in - 'cause it's very ridged...

Mike, only the Elites had the easy on-easy off console from the factory. You would leave some ugly holes if you could get yours off. There is some mounting hardware for easy on/off if folks now add consoles, but I don't have the details.
Ya a lot of the ones on ebay are actually C & O's listings. For quick attach/removal I was thinking something along the lines of how the windshields are attached only using bolts for a tighter fit. Is there such a thing out there thats like a threaded insert that can be attached to the boat that bolts can be easily attached/removed if needed?
I bought one from C&O for my 01-196 and installed it myself. Cant tell it from a factory job.
If it was on from the factory its also glued on....was going to do it on mine when i had it...got all the bolts loose but that thing wouldnt budge with the glue they use....had a friend of mine that make a kit that has like a wing nut style system he used on his boats....when he ordered a boat he would order a dual console but would have the factory leave the second console loose so he could install his kit in it...worked really well but not sure now what ever happend to him
