js...here are some pics of the SI ducer i installed on my 203. Not sure what your transome looks like, but when on plane you want the ducer out of the water. I put mine right to the glass. Note that horizontal plane is below jack plate and I put the bevel end of the ducer right above the lip of the step. I figured that the lip above would not catch increased flow pressure. And, it would be above the edge if a branch or something came by. Been there for a couple years with no issues.

BTW..them 2 wires to the right are from the relic Lowrance units I had. I won't be needing them.

NO Never tried it. That unit(997) was on SI only. Have a lowrance below it with the puck in the hull.

    Re: side image transducer (ctdtjs)

    Guys,
I mounted mine high cuz I have a puck shoot thru in the bilge for 2D and an A/B switch on the console to select which ducer I want. When on the pad I am shoot thru up til about 60MPH then it gets a bit spotty. Other than that, I have full 2D even at 40mph.

Hard to tell...but I also have Power Pole bracket mounted to the outside of the jack plate. I was concerned about mounting to glass, but it has not been an issue.

If you have a slidemaster JP: buy a hole shot plate from C&O and mount the transducer to the bottom of the plate.

I bought one from C&O for this purpose, now waiting till March for my electronics buy.

Re: side image transducer (bassin butch)

Most of the JPs have a hole on the bottom...jsut get a SS bolt and put it there...it wont register when runnin on plane anyways.
when i had my 198 and 997 on it thats what i did. then i put the shoot through ducer in the bilge with a switch mounted in the gunnel then i could get signal with it runnin on plane. it worked out great

    Re: side image transducer (Luke)

A lot less likely to damage it if you mount it to the JP. They work fine there.
