In another post I ask "what am I looking at" when I pulled off the cowling on my new to me Johnson Fastrike 150 there was a "T" in the main gas line going to the fuel manifold with a "Valved hose" going to the upper cylinder bearing nipple. The original hose from the center carb was capped off with a bolt.

Anyway, after some discussion with ChampionMan I put things back the way it was "stock" as well as sealing up the ball bearings in the carb bowels, and added a (blue) Roller Cam.

I wondered "why" did the previous owner do this engineering with the "valved hose from the Main line" in the first place, and I sent him an e-mail.
He got back to me and stated that his mechanic told him he did this to add extra lubrication to the top cylinder bearing, and the valve was to control the flow.
I thought "well I guess that makes sense",............ then I woke up in the middle of the night, and ask the same question........"why"
Was there a problem with lack of lubrication to the upper cylinder bearing??, and will running her with it back "stock" hurt anything or am I being paranoid?
I sent another e-mail to the previous owner and explained my concern, and have yet to hear back from him which makes me more "paranoid"
