How good is this boat in rough water? You think it will haul __ss or what? Going to look at it this weekend, is there anything i should look for or watch out for? THANKS

I have no direct experience with a 191, but owners will be along and give you their input.

I have a 181, and couldn't be happier. Great ride, handles like a sports car - way fun to ride around and fish in.

    Good luck with your search.

The boats fine, but the motor....
Two stroke zukes are hard to find parts for, and expensive when you do. Have a professional check the motor out, it will be well worth it.

They run great when they're running though...

    Re: champion 191 (champ191dude)

Love the boat, it handles rough water very well. Mine's not a fast boat, 65 gps.

    Cons:
    1. Rear storage compartments are smaller than I'd like. I end up putting all my gear up front.
    2. I have a lot of surface cracks at normal stress points. I've read a couple times that the mid 90s Champions were prone to this. I can only speak about mine, I've never thought to look at others. It does get the snot beat out it on summer weekends.

    Re: champion 191 (191 champ)

My bro, Brad, has a 2000 model 191 with a 200 Yamaha ox66. That boat is a rocket! I think it runs as fast as mine light loaded (74ish; gps) but he is faster with a load. He runs 70+ no matter if he has a partner or 3. I don't understand. It's crazy. He ran 69 and change with him and 4 young adults.

And ride....well, do I need to go there?

    Re: champion 191 (Lea)

i had the guy take it to a marine dealer and had him do a once over and a compression test done to the motor and he found it at 115 to 114 psi on all cylinders. Is this good or a little low? From all the information i can find on the boat its the best in the industry. thanks for all the replys

If they are all the same, that's good.

The only Champion I had ridden in before was a 186 SCX Elite and it was a sweet rig. My next will be a Champion.
