    leaky 2006 187

Got a problem with a 2006 Champion 187 w/mercury 175 Optimax. Recently purchased this boat and took it out for the first time yesterday. Checked all the plugs, launched the boat, fired right up and went fishing. Decided to check the bilge pump and I was pumping water! Brought the boat home. Filled the bilge area by the intakes and waited to see what came out if anything. Sure enough, it started leaking out the center hole. Not around the outside of the fitting but out the middle of the pickup tube. Hole in the pump? or hose? A boat this new with the low hours it has I figured the least of my worries would be a leak. I had filled the bilge just up to the top of the pump mounted in the transom. The pumps are Rule Hi-Flow Aerator's. Any suggestions/help would be appreciated. First Champion and I was hoping for a trouble free start anyway.

i dunno what brand of pump had a recall a while back but my 08 206 had done the same thing its an easy fix tho if your boats set up the same (not sure lea prob knows) but i took out the oil tank took out the screws in the metal pan that held the tank and gave me a clean shot at the pump replaced the broken pump prob took about a half hour. the problem sounds that most likely the arm the hooks the hose to the areorator snapped off

Thanks for the info. I was working without taking the oil tank out and man let me tell, 100 degrees in the shade, a fella can sure sweat alot. I'll go ahead and pull the oil tank and see if that helps. What brand of pump did you put in - Mayfair or Rule?

I replaced a pump eariler and found it easier to go back with the same. Those Rule pumps? they are proud of em' . Be sure and to check all of your connections first. And yes the more room the better. You are already in nine kinds of a bind to begin with, so more space is a +
