    Holy Smokes !

Sounds like you have had more than your fair share of exposure to idiots lately. Maybe you've hit your quota and the rest of the summer will be good....

I've gotten kinda used to guys messing with me when I'm anchored and catfishing so I try to limit my exposure and fish during times when jerks are likely. Don't people realize when others are fishing? I guess not.. Or they wanna just mess with you.

On the first case - I think I'da probably tried to embarass the guy by pointing out the hazard buoy and letting him know what it is and tell him that "just don't wanna see those kids get hurt". Might wanna remind him about the safety considerations of running too close to a boat at anchor. (I think that at the very least his actions constitute 'reckless operation' ) And according to the boating safety regs - you can report him by calling 911 and they'll route it to the CPOs.

So maybe a picture (or video) of this numbskull would be a good thing. No sense in getting yourself in trouble because of what he did....

YOu did the right thing - in both cases and there's a lotta good folks out there. You just ran into a couple jerks... Unfortunately.

Hey - you gonna be over at Carlyle over the 4th? I hate being on the water on holiday weekends - but I might try it Monday. My champ is a white one with blue stripe. 150 Merc and I took my pedestals out. (much better!!!)

Holler at me if you get over there - or hit me with a PM.... I was there last Thur and it was awesome out. Not crowded, fishing was good and the lake was behaving!

Get his boat number and report him. I'd have the state water patrol waiting with me.

Just have a large lure (take hooks off if you want) on a long rod. Fire it off in idiots boats pinging it iff the side of the boat generally scars them off. If the get the gumption to talk to you, just say you never saw them, apologize and then do it again.

They will think you are nuts and will leave quickly. Works well with water skiers, wakeboarders. When they see a large lure coming at them they get downright scared.

Re: bigger the boat smaller brain (TN Tornado)

On our lake, the skiers are always asking, "Why don't those fisherman go somewhere else? This is the only calm shoreline on the lake!!" I used to get fired up about stuff, but I found myself getting ticked off about littler and littler things. So now I just let most of it pass and don't let it ruin my fishing time. I think part of it too is I am usually with my kid. I talk to him about "choices" etc. and try to lead by example. Weekends on our lake certainly provide a lot of "teachable moments."

Not sure I could do all that if I had to turn on the bilge for 2 minutes though You certainly have my repsect for being able to call off the dogs when you saw those kids...

Nothing a cu200 super free and a 1oz slab can't handle! Lol seriously though, If I go fishing on holidays I'm on the Water by sun up and off the water by noon a lot of these people don't show up to the lake until about noon anyway! Had one guy try that on me he didn't know our local sherriff is an avid bassfisherman! So he was waiting at the ramp when he pulled up!

Idiots every where on the water, Just this weekend we had some good ol boys tubeing up river, and doing full speed u turns near us, with their tube rider coming feet from the blow downs up there, the rivers maybe 65 yds wide. Left fishing after dark, and came across 10 kayackers (In the dark) no lights) that launched from the white water center, lucky we didnt chop them all up. Ive also had people pass inbetween me and the bank while fishing maybe 30 yards off a rocky shallow point lol. I expect the worse now, and try my best to stay away from it.
