I'd say he might have a decent boat. The 204's with 200's I saw back in the day were all sloooow and seemed underpowered. Might really wake up with an extra 25 ponies and a bit more weight on the transom. I know of one good running 204, and it was a one off layup with more foam core and a lot less wood in the stringers and decks.
Can you get a different rating plate for a 204? Mine is only rated for a 200.
