    Proud New Champion Owner

I just picked up an '85 Champ 17' w/ Merc XR2 150hp. 2 livewells and lots of good stuff. It needs some work. I'm having motor issues currently but the boat is badass. I went from a tri hull, which I loved, to a V or semi V bottom. So far so good. I will keep you updated.

Welcome!!! I would be willing to bet you that most of us if not 90%, of us has had several smaller boats to start out with. It just takes time to graduate to a larger 20' boat. I think that the experience of smaller boats make you appreciate, the time when you purchase the boat of your choice and color and etc, but I enjoyed my other boats just as much. Go Fishing in the best boat on the market IMHO. congratulations.

Well it's going to be a couple more weeks before I get on the peaceful waters again. I posted a thread in the Mercury Motor forum. Motor trouble! Dies in gear. Anyway I did get a sweet depth finder/gps unit set up. A Garmin 188 i think. Trolling motor is ready with 56 lbs of thrust. lol Stills needs a little work but I GOTTA get that motor going right first. No motor, Then you only got a floater! Just an update.

Unfortunately no. Oil injector gear went out. Going to mix. Carbs need rebuilt. Hopefully not too much more. It's close to time for the water.

Re: Proud New Champion Owner (Lea)

Hopefully gettin' her back tomorrow. I had the oil injector blocked off, too expensive to fix and going to mixed. Also had all 3 carbs rebuilt and a few other small things done. Oh please let her run the way a boat should! The Champ is in great shape. Just needs a few minor things but not enuff to keep me off the water. lol I will give a full update when she comes home.

Re: Proud New Champion Owner (heavymetals)

OK well she came home yesterday. Carbs rebuilt, oil injection plugged off and some other things replaced. Taking her to the lake to test today. The mechanic said in now idles and does not die in gear but he said it would not "run up" in his test tank. Does anyone know if thats normal and should run good in the lake? Thanx

Well she ran great great at the lake for about 30 min. Then she locked up, temporarily. Long story short, I have posts in the Merc forum, I got a used replacement powerhead on the way. I shall make it to the waters again!
