    Deep Scratches

While at Havasu, my brother hit a small rock pile which left some deep scratches on the pad area of his 206. The scratches are deep enough that it looks like they are through the gel coat, into the fiberglass. While waiting for repair materials to show up and get the area patched back with gel coat, should it stay out of the water? Or can he fish for a couple weeks until the gel coat shows up?

If glass is exposed I'm pretty sure it can absorb water. I'd think its better to let the area dry real well while waiting so its ready when the materials show up.

I agree with Eronningen....do not put it in the water till good repairs are completed...

Food for thought, I had the same thing happen to my 206 last year. I decided to run it--bad idea! The hull is under so much pressure from the water that it started stripping away the fiberglass. $2700.00 later I had to get it reglassed and new gel appplied. I would reccommend getting it fixed first

Thanks for all the input. I told him this evening he has to let it sit until it gets fixed. I wish we had a really good glass shop around here. Anyhow, it'll sit for the next month. Thanks again.
