    Opinions Please

If no stress cracks and motor is good, what do you guys think.
After everything you saw on the 186 with shady paint job, thought I'd ask, cuz I don't know much about Champions, I only know I want one.
Wanting a small project boat that won't require repower.

Me thinks the transom has been replaced. Could be just the photo but the one picture from the rear, it looks like the top cap is all white in the back of the boat!

So if it has been fixed then that should be a good thing, right?

What color should the top cap be in back? Whole top rail is white, shouldn't they be the same?
I had to replace the transom in a stratos, and they built it up better than before. Is it a bad thing if transom was replaced right?

If they did a transom repair properly, it should not be a problem , just hope no rot in other places.
Got to look the whole boat over for other issues.
Top cap blue flake area can be fixed if needed,
Looks like it has potential, have a good shop help you check it out.

Looks like the boat is in Kentucky and has MO letters on it. If the hull and the motor check out it might be a reasonable offering. Gotta remember the dealer is gonna price it in twerms of what he thinks it will bear on the market. In the ad it mentions that this boat will "clean up good " . Does that make you nervous? Today's motor technology has gone way past the days of the EFI. This could make it a bit less valuable when you decide to part ways with it. If you are not fishing and running it a lot it might be ok, but if you are on the water frequently prepare to buy plenty of gas. These EFI motors will consume more gas than an injection model. With that said the EFI motor also comes with a strong reputation of reliability.

I think that is a rear tank model which will give better performance but may sit a little nose high. If you are thinking seriously I would find someone here that can swing by and check it out. If that goes well I would go look at the boat in person and before going I would contact the seller and let them know I was coming and if I liked the boat I would want to take it to a place of my choosing for a evaluation of the hull and motor. The seller may not like this but I would be planning on this as part of your expense in the purchase and if the seller won't allow it then I would just move on .

Could be the light. If you look at the following pix, it appears the light washes out the blue in some of the pix.

Yeah Reggie I was thinking that but if it was white from that area across I would suspect a top cap cut off and repair. Just wanted to point it out if he wasn't familiar with Champs.

I was just going to say you have expect some stress cracks in any of the older boats you look at. Unless it has very few hours on it.
