Need the honest truth here guys.....Fickled FICHT????

Hi I just adopted this 99 Gambler with a 225 FICHT hanging off the back of her. I was told the motor is sound and runs great on testing. However I am being told that this model and year had LOTS of problems. Model number is E225FPLSI. Is there anything I can do to ensure it's longevity? I am running Evinrude FICHT RAM injection blend oil as it has since new. Be honest guys here. Also if this engine does blow it's cookies will ins replace it?

first off please post the numbers ( serial and model) and the gurus can tell you what was done under warranty, second some fichts were good and some were bad, usually ins will not replace the whole motor it may only repair the power head and then only if the problem was caused by hitting something or getting a water intake problem that is not your fault. ( garbage bag or such) then it over heats and goes bang.
If you are scared of the motor you could always bring it down here and I have a 200 venom I will trade you , taken loving care of by the Guru ChampionMan who is the moderator of the forum, plus Rusty and Seahorse who are also super guys and moderators extraordinaire

Check that serial number as there are not enough numbers.

The 01 Fichts were good motors over all.

The SI in the serial number denotes a 2001 model which are good engines. Now just like any other 6 year old used motor, have a trained professional check it over completely and give you a copy of the computer print out.

I had a 1999 200 Ficht. It ran like a champ for the 5 years I owned it.

I also have 1999 200 Ficht. It hasn't blown up yet!! but with all the talk about the Ficht motors, it does have me alittle scared.

Only thing done while under warranty was a PDS strap kit on 9-19-01 (update kit).
