Champion Interior plastic boxes stained, Any suggestions?

I'm looking at a 1999 Champion 203. The interior dark, gray boxes under the seats and the step cooler box on the front deck have rust stains in them. Is there a way to recolor the boxes or make them look new with a particular cleaning product? Thanks in advance

Did you try a test spot with CLR?

No. I guess it must be worth a try! A friend just recommended the same thing to me! Have you had some success with CLR in the past?

Might also give Soft Scrub a test.

Yes. And peroxide workd well for blood stains on carpet.

Funny you should ask. I just did the exact same fix to my 99 203. I used CLR and it did OK. Tried a heavy duty Magic Eraser, and again OK. the best combo was a SOS/Brillo pad and some greased lightning. The came out looking great. I would try the CLR first. It may be just the ticket on the rust.

After the brillo pad, etc...did you have to apply some wax or something to restore the surface?

I sprayed them with BBS. They surely aren't as new, but they look great compared to how they were when I started.
