You need a 26 pitch tempest plus.....25p will spin your RPM's up but you won't get the speed a 26 pitch will get you. I had that same boat and in the midwest you need the 26 pitch for sure. By yourself you should be well over 70 mph. Set up sounds about right to me just need a different prop.
You'll need to raise your motor about 1/4 to 1/2 inch on the plate when you put on the 26P prop. Depends on what motor you have if thats too much RPM or not. For a merc its not. You need a 2-300 more R's. For an Evirude H.O. you need about 400 more R's.

That says it all. Should be a 71-72 mph boat in the Fall with that prop. The 26 tempest can be a dog out the box so beware. I have a 225 hpdi and the 25 tepest is good. Also using a 24 fury to spin 6k on the rpms which is what the hammer needs![]()

Based on my experience with that boat your rpm's should be around 5500......you don't need to max out your rpm's for the speed. I use to think the same thing until my dealer showed me how that boat runs 71-73 with 5400 rpms with a 26p.
Yes the hotter weather will slow you don't....ask "dukhnter" about his boat. He bought it for me and runs it now and he will attest to everythink I have said. However he has a hydraullic plate.
Just made a deal on a 26p fury maybe it will bring a little speed
let us know how it runs and maybe we can help some more.
26 Tempest prop worked by Mark Croxton. I have a manual plate. I turn about 5500 rpm's and that is what is seems to run best at. My tourney speed is around 68 to 69. It will run about 73 with just me. Move all your heavy tackle to the back of the boat. They are very weight sensitive.

I get my best #'s with a B+B"d by Mark 25 Tempest Plus,it will run just a tick shy of 74 mph light load and around 71 tourny load at 5900RPM. I also have a 25T1 which will run just a tad slower than the Tempest and does not carry the bow as well.
It seems like the Yamaha's will run higher up on the jackplate than other engines will, not sure of my exact motor height as I have a hydraulic plate.

Would you be willing to measure your prop-to-pad? It might help others with that combo....![]()

Anything for you Lea!Just went out and measured it up.
Number 1 on my Hyd gauge(Bobs) is 4" below pad.
Number 2 is 3" below, etc,etc,etc.
I usually start out of the hole in the #2 position with either light or heavy load, when on plane begin trimming up,once trim is proper I begin coming up on the plate and back down on the trim until the sweetspot is found.
According to my gauge the best performance for me is at little over #3 on the gauge at WOT which adds up to around 2" below pad at WOT and still maintaining well over 20lbs water pressure.
If I remember correctly when I had the manual plate it was set around 2.5' below to get the best performance.
It could possibly be the design of the Yammies lower units which allows them to run a little higher than others.
Maybe iron banks will chime in,He and I run the same combo, same color even!!!!!!!!!I think he runs up a little high too.
