    Rub rail replacement any tips?

My grandson decided to take some worm dye out and spray his lure without my permission.

He sprayed my rub rail with a beautiful shade of chartreuse

I don't want to drill more holes so I was thinking: Order a new one from Champ, take the old one off and lay it on top of the new one to mark hole location. Sound reasonable?

    Boat is : 07 183 CX

I carry a dye neutralizer with me just in case some gets out in the wrong place. I have been told though that the dye will go away by itself with a little exposure to the sun.

As far as the rub rail though I have no idea!

It will fade in the sun. Had some spilled on my rub rail. It's gone now...

I covered it up with: http://www.3m.com/US/auto_mari...r=847

I wish I would have waited for your responses but I was in a tizzy as I am very anal about my boat.

I would not mess with it. If you do decide to change it, just lining them up and drilling won't work. You have to pin it at the bow first then streeeetch it at the stern then pin it there. Takes 2 people for the stretching and pinning. I guess once you have it strectched tight and pinned at the front and back , you might be able to line up the other one. You also have to calk behind the new one and dip all screws in calk before setting them.

I hope that worked out for you.

It will fade out of carpets, too...(just in case your grandson gets carried away again.. )
