    Trailer Rust

I'm wondering if Champion knows that their trailers rust pretty good. I have a 2008 and looking underneath the trailer their is a lot of rust and bubbling paint. The boat has not been touch in salt water.

    Just curious?

    Thanks

Not just Champion. Sadly, tube trailers, which I am told are stronger, are prone to interior rust. Champion now offers channel trailers which have no enclosed areas which can encourage rusting!!

My 04 trailer has not rusted bad, except for the diamond plate areas at steps and fenders........they started to rust the 1st year. Next one will have stainless fenders!

Wow I have an old 1989 C-Channel trailer and have never had an issue with mine only gripe I have is the Chitty Atwood surge break system that TI trailers installed. Too bad when they built the trailer they didn't use a box channel and then use an A-60 coupler.

C channel is the best bet. On second thought aluminum trailers are the best. I will replace3 mine with an alum. I do put mine in saltwater , I don't give it 5 years

These trailers are sub out to a trailer builder, take a look at the other boat companies they use same tube trailer but different emblem on it..The only one that builds its own trailers is Ranger. Other than rust these are good trailers but the rust zaps the life right out of them..

Brentl I live down the street from you, and this is my second experience with tube trailers. the first one had to be replaced because of rust. On my 206 I see rust forming on my back step pad around the edges. I think we live so close to the Gulf, it may have a effect on those tube trailers, more so than C-channel. I only use mine in fresh water. Iam checking on a unit for the trailer that acts like a cathodic unit.
