    98 Evinrude Ficht 225 - Opinions

Haven't had a boat in 3 years but neighbor ended up with a 98 javelin 400b with 225 Evinrude Ficht that doesn't run (he just buys and resells stuff). He wants 1800. I've always heard the rumor to run don't walk away from the ficht outboards and want to get everyone's honest opinion. Not sure if motor is toast or just needs parts. Was figuring on repowering but want to make sure this is right direction. Thanks in advance!

I'd say the hull is worth that, those engines were the better ones, compared to the 150's and 175's, But all were suspect back then.....for that price, if the hull is in good shape it would be worth a repower...or who knows , it could be something simple with the engine.....If you tackle it, you definately need someone that knows 'em.....

Post up the model # of the engine if you can.

There was NO 1998 FICHT 225, 1999 was the first.

As the previous poster, the esteemed Mr. M.J. himself stated, we need the model number first

Sorry the guy hasn't got the boat title yet and doesn't know the year. Sticker on the motor said made October 1998 so it must be a 99 model them. I will get serial number shortly.
