Good job, Reggie! That's exactly what the 86 brochure says. However, it also says 1220 for the 201 Fish n Ski, which should be a tad heavier.

I have heard that earlier brochures show weights under actual, but I have no clue...

Thanks for the quick response. Now that does mean dry weight correct?

I don't know, there's a little less glass in the FNS cause the rod lockers aren't as deep and it has cushions on the locker lids. What I don't know is the difference between the SC and DC. I'm assuming the 1220 is DC.

I don't either ... my 93 says it's 275# heavier than the 86 and I figured it was close to the same hull. Difference must be in the top cap. I see that the 90 201s are 1350 ... go figure

I was looking at the FnS being a tad heavier because on my 90, the cushioned lids were a lot heavier than the regular lids I replaced them with... However, some of the earlier models of FnS had light cushions on the deck and not the full cushions like on our 90 models...

    Just a guesstimate.......

From what I remember the 201 FNS came in at 1320 and equipped with a 150-200 HP and single axle trailer came right in at around 1.5 ton dry.

Thanks for everyones input. Are there older brochures available out there for purchase that have been mentioned earlier?

Lea has some. I do have a 1989 FNS ordered from the plant by me and it will be the only Champ I own. No need to change. I did re power in 2004 to a carbed 200 Johnson. Honest numbers with a 9.5 Rapidjack plate are mid 60's. The 201 is going to run 60-7+ depending on age and motor.

    Re: 1986 SC 201 (ChampioNman)

I have had my boat since 1987 when me and my father went halves on it. Well my dad passed away in 2001 and it has sat ever since untill about 8 months ago and decided it is time to get back in gear and move on without my fishin partner. I think he would like for me to bring her back to life again and GO FISHIN. I will never get rid of her either. The Merc 200 is strong and has low hours on the power head. Everything is stripped off of her, motor has been checked and in good shape. Getting head work done by Jay Smith, prop work done by Mark Croxton, all new equipment. So far I have purchased new seats, bilge hardware and hoses, rapid jack 6" , hydraulic steering, gauges, steering wheel, compound/polishing supplies, decals, had dash panels silk screened, flush mount shifter w/ cables, LCX 112, navigation lights front and rear............. but I still have alot more to get roughly about $7,500 bucks total for refurbish. I too love my boat and it has had some good memories and I want another 20 years outta her. Dang I can't wait to get her completed. I will post pics of before and after hopefully as I move along with the process.

Lea, if you do have an 1986 brochure that you would like to sell me I will take one.

I'm sorry, Cooper. I only have one copy of each of my older brochures... The brochures are very bare-bones. You probably can get way more information right here on BBC than you could from the brochures...

Sounds like you are doing a fine job restoring that Champion. Can't wait to see the before and after photos!!!!

    Re: 1986 SC 201 (Lea)

    Thanks Lea,
It is going to be a slow process but I am going to take my time and try to do everything right the first time.
Also, would it be possible for you to scan the 1986 brochure if it is not too much trouble. I did not want it for info but just for keep sake. I do have the original owners manual on it. If it is too much trouble to do the scan or if it will ruin some of the integrity of the brochure don't worry about it. I just thought I would ask but really it ain't no biggie. My email address is Cooper2u@aol.com
    I will keep ya'll posted.

If I can ever get my scanner to work....but right now, it is beyond me to figure it out! The brochures are longer/wider than normal piece of paper, so not sure how that would work...
