looking for a center seat out of a 183 Elite??? anyone?

Want to replace my center seat (between driver's & passenger's seat) with one out of an Elite. Mine are charcoal gray/onyx in color.
I think these center seats they put in the CX's are kinda ugly!

    Really like the Elite ones!

Anyone know where there's one lying around?

    Jeff

That's funny, cause I like the CX center seat better. It is the exact same as the center seat in my 198 (Elite), with the higher back...I rode in an R boat once years ago, and it had the low-back center seat and I had back cramps for weeks after...no support! Plus, the actual Elite center seat has no place to step except on the upholstery...I think that's why you see the carpeted box between the seats in the Elites now...

I doubt they are interchangable, but ask the factory. 615-494-2090

I just don't like the looks of that huge seperation between the seat & backrest when it's opened. When it's closed, it's not too bad, except the black rubber backing on it, on the side the cup holders are on, is starting to crack in a couple places already! Also, I think when folded down, the CX center seat just looks too big, and the material/style they used on the cup holder side is a little on the ugly side!
Had the same cracking problem on the rubber step pad up on the bow ( a kazillion cracks! ). Called Champion, and they sent me a brand new one of those. Since I have to take off the tm to repalce that, I'm going to install that at the same time I replace my MG with a new MK Fortrex this winter!
I just like the looks of that Elite center seat when folded down, being I have that seat folded down about 98% of the time. I hardly EVER use that center seat anyhow! I think I fish 3 out of my boat about once a year!

Maybe another option is to get a center box/compartment custom made for the center.......hmmmmmmmmmm?
    Kinda like Basscat has.

Have you checked out the center box on the newest Elites? Carpeted....

Where was your boat stored before you got it? I have never heard of that cracking on either seat or bow rubber before. Mine was buillt in 04, and nary a problem...

(when it's open, there should be a body sitting there...that will prevent you from seeing the gap...otherwise, don't open it )

    It's still ugly when closed!

This is a pic of a new 183 Elite center seat.
Looks like the same as the 08's.....?

OK, that's not the seat...that's the box I am referring to. The seat is upholstered and is in pics in the 08 brochure.... At one point, you had option of seat (low back) or this box...

Yep, that's the box I was talking about. In 08, you could have one or the other. Not sure if the seat is an option for 09. I don't have a working scanner...but the seat might be on the website. I'll look. It was low back and fully upholstered. Pics of both seat and box in 08 brochure...

here's a pic of the only crack on the top section of it. Not too bad. Rest of it is fine. The second pic shows what it looks like closed (ugly or not?). I think I'd rather have the Elite's center.

I guess that's why they make the different stuff....for folks with different opinions....

Seriously, I hope you can get what you want, and that it is adaptable to your set-up! Hard to tell from your pics, but it might not be....

Jeff here is a photo of my centre seat from my 08 elite

I have completely removed it. It is held in by a turn screw on the bottom section and a snap for the back. it wedges in quite tightly but does not fold down at all.

If there are options to change this I am unaware.

I'm thinking of completely removing mine also, and installing a cup holder/storage box, kinda like Basscat offers, in mine.
You can still use it as a 3rd seat (sit on the top of it, kinda uncomfortable), but since it'll not be used as an actual seat about 98% of the time, I'd rather have storage there.
Maybe just a storage area with no cup holders, since there are very nice cup holders on both port & starboard sides of the 183.

Chiming in late: I think it much better to leave the CX seat as is. Isn't it better to have a step pad for co-anglers to set on rather than your seat bottom?

Relating to the CX seat back: Perfect for back support, and for a sense of security for children.

I do agree that when up the space between the seat back and bottom is not appealing. I solved this by applying a a "Champion Boats" graphic to that area. If I was as savvy as the rest of you I would post a picture but I'M not.
