Like them both. Only con on the MK is it's weight. It can steal some of your bow lift.

    Re: MG or MK (OhioChamp183)

i have always had MG on my boats, had a MG109 on my Ranger and this is my first MK, at 101 it is easier to lift out of water and is quieter and smoother on pedal and easier on my foot,,,my vote is Minn Kota....

I am starting to really like my MK. When I first got it I hated it. Always ran MG before but this thing is really nice. My vote is for MK.

I've had both. Currently a MG, and my vote is for Minn Kota.

    Re: MG or MK (dukhntr)

I like em both for different reasons. The MK is quieter and has a gradual thrust instead of all at once.

The MG does lay a little more flatter and I believe overall it is more durable

I've heard the MG with the universal sonar are having some water leak issues.

I used to like the foot pedal on the MK better but I heard it's been changed so now I'm not sure which pedal I like best.

    Get one of each

MK with the lift assist. It really does make it effortless to put it in and take it out of the water.

I just got back from my first trip in the grass with the Hydrilla Hacker prop installed on the TE82 MG. It still does not hold a candle to my old MK 74 in the grass. If you don't fish grass I'd say it's a toss up.

    Re: MG or MK (JohnM)

If you fish in open water its a toss up.

If you fishin the stumps, MK is the way to go. composite shaft. I hit a stump on 100% on my 74 and it should have thrown me out of the boat. I was to stubborn to fall in . Anyway its fine.

and like the last post says. Grass is a pain on a MG. no issues at all on the MK. Thats all I fish if I can help it.
