Busted my tranducer... Has this ever happened to anyone else ????

Yesterday noticed my graph reading all different depths and acting erratically. So, I check the tranducer for weeds and found it dangling back there. Turns out, it broke in half right where the bolt goes through to hold it on. It was a clean break as half of the peice that broke is still in the bracket. I had to have hit something, right? And then I must have had that nut and bolt assembly too tight so it didn't "kick up," right? I am going to attempt to gorrilla glue it and zip tie it on both sides and see how long that lasts. Hopefully she'll hold til I can get a new one. Yesterday, I actually snapped it back in there so i could troll, but as soon as I got on plane to go it, it popped off again...

On another note, do I just order a regular old transducer, or do I have to look for something special. It is a Lowrance 520C... What is that going to cost? I'm guessing around $70 or so....

It might be hanging a little too low or you backed into a stick-up when fishing. I have a through hull but have broken several on my trolling motor and they all break at the thin spot where the bolt goes through. I doubt any kind of glue will hold for long. Weak design flaw and Lowrance needs to beef them up at the connector. Good luck.

time for a new one wait till you see the price on one. I would try Linda Colt before I went shopping for one.

I have drilled a new hole in that style before and reattached it using washers for spacers. I put a lock washer in the middle on both sides. Worked great...in fact that was about 4 years ago and the guy who has it is still running it like that.

Puck Style... is that the shoot through one's that go right in the hull? I have three of those already epoxied in my bilge area. I'd have remove one and people have told me that pretty hard to do, plus I could damage the boat. If I took the boat in, is that something the dealer would be able to do (remove the old one and put in a new one)?

None of the epoxied ones will adapt to your graph? I bought an LCX27, and used the epoxied puck already in the boat. The only drawback is that the temp probe isn't accurate. I just use the one on the flasher.

I was advised at the BPS that they would not. I guess I should look into it a little more. I think the previous owner cut two of the cords to the pucks when he was pulling out the old lines for his old graph. In fact, I know two have been cut and the cable is still running down the side of the boat.

I used a waterproof epoxy on the bust tranducer. It apprears to be solid right now in the garage. We'll see once she's wet...
