    1999 193 champion DC 200 evinrude ficth

I bought my new rig, well new to me, and it cost my 12k, i test drove it, ran great, no problems with motor( to my knowlege) ran fast great, no problems starting, very clean, used though, was it a good price guys??? it came with lowrance in dash, thats it, nothing else, great trolling motor-minnk, and everthing works, except livewell system, but contacted the previous owner in which i bought it from and he is going to pay for it to be fixed,, just hope its under 500 dollars. also, I am having trouble posting my pics of boat on site, any suggestions?

Congratulations, frost! and welcome to the Champion family!!! That is one sharp looking rig!!!

188Elite...Richard...Ficht had some issues, true, but many, many owners had no problems what-so-ever. The fact that this one is still going fine, leads me to believe it is a sound motor...and quite possibly, it had the upgrade.

The power head issues were limited to the 150 & 175s. The only other problems I know of with the Ficht motors were the 225 HOs had a hard time keeping lower units together .

If it was maintained properly, I wouldn't be scared of a 200 in that vintage at all What say you, ChampioNman??

LET ME START OVER CONGRATS ON THE NEW RIG it is sharp looking! Now not trying to be funny about the motor, just keep a wachfull eye on it! My buddy has the 175 same year right now and is fighting a loosing battle every time he turns around. Wether its lower unit power head, trim motor, its just been like a bad curse and from all ive read the word ebreviation of FICTH is a bad word lol. But once agian welcome to the champion family! Its a group of people I feel proud to say I am apart of!

Two totally different animals the 150/175's are 60* motors that had design flaws. The Big block 200/225's are 90 * motors that had some issues but recalls went out for the owners and modifications were made and they are a pretty solid motor. Run good oil in it and decarb it every 100 hours, run the proper plugs indexed correctly and the motor should give you years of reliable service.

nice rig! I just got a 2000 196 with a FICHT 200 on it and it runs great. From what ive heard ( and i tried to research the hell out of it) if you get one nowadays that has a decent amount of hours, you prolly got one of the good ones! Congrats man, your gonna love it! Is it your first boat?
