Thank you Luke!
The way fuel prices are and the way they are headed I am done tourney fishing except for the local Fishers of Men trail. No more traveling to MO, AR and OK for me and having to get out in the nasty weather. When you pay $250 per tourney and pay for them all up front you have to go no matter the weather. Top that off with a minimum of $250 for fuel per tourney and thats if you don't do alot of running around each tourney. Last time on T Rock we made a 40 mile run one way, needed the bigger boat, speed and safety. Here in KS we can't run anywhere one way 40 miles and if the wind is blowing I can launch somewhere close to where I am fishing therefore no need for the big boat. If I am fishing a tourney here in KS I can usually fish close to the launch in a protected area and if I don't catch fish I don't feel so bad because I don't have alot of money tied up in gas, entry and time. So yes I am going to downsize in payment. Less payment = more gas money = more fishing time and I am all about more fishing time.![]()
No, not looking for a Ranger but if a nice one comes around I will consider it for the right price. Had two of them before and both were nice. Both Champs and Rangers have their good and not so good points respectively.
I would really like to find a nice older 202/225 combo.![]()
Here is ya an older 202 in great shape, only a gas guzzler 200 though.
I'm sure Todd will be glad to work with you.
I kind of like my 18 foot small block DFI combo's. I can go fishing two or three times on 15 gallons of gas in the boat.![]()
trust me Jack i know exactly where your commin from....the closest place i can put the boat on the lake is 1-1/2 hours away....at 10-11 mpg in the truck thats a lot of gas jsut to get there....then the gas in the boat the entry fee and all of that adds up fast big time.....its gonna cut way into myu fishing this year
I think the kid will cut into your fishing first Luke.....![]()

no hes not cutting in to it yet but damn the gas prices are........hey you need to give me a call and we can hit the water sometime maybe,.....im thinkin about fishin the Eberlin T if your interested
Champer, my 202 with a 225 opti gets over 4 mpg running in the 4200 - 4700 rpms range. I don't run wot long enough to know what the burn is. Gas prices are putting a crimp on everything and we will see fewer choices as the ripple effect hits the economy.
Try havin one of these Sons a B#$%^@s' on the back...makes youeverytime you look at the gas tank....I wish I could avg. 4 mpg
I did fish out of Timmy Hortons boat this past weekend and was overly impressed with the Merc 250 Pro XS...we did alot of running and hardly burnt any fuel...I could not believe the difference in mine to his on cruising at 4500 rpms

I can understand that...but if I went smaller, it would still be a Champion!![]()
i have concidered many times of getting rid of mine and quit all the tournament stuff and shows i do for current sponsors and jsut getting back to the fun part of it and not worry about anything else
Brett, per my SC1000 guages I am getting between 6.5 and 7MPG at 4200 to 4700 ROM's with my little 18 footer/150 Opti combo (mid 40's speed). Of course when it gets rough that 203 is the Caddy compared to most anything else on the water. You can't have it all.![]()
I just re-powered my boat this year from a 03 200 EFI Merc to 200HO Evinrude.......big big big difference in gas mileage. I just fished my first tournament this weekend and only used an 8th of a tank. So to me its like running a new boat. Just repower.

No need to get rid of it. Fish for fun and then ya don't have to race from spot to spot! Cruise instead of WOT. That's what I do...![]()
