You're going to find that the brand is strictly a matter of personal preference...
Some prefer MG, others MK. I don't think it's a matter of one or the other working best on a Champion.
As for length...I prefer 52". Plenty of shaft for days when wind or boat traffic cause waves, yet you can adjust is up when fishing shallower areas...
Prefer the 52". You will be glad you did when you are trying to fish in the wind or trying to stay on a main lake point. You can always move it up when fishing shallow. I currently use a Minnkota but was always a Motorguide fan before. The Minnkota has been a good motor so far. Really a personal preference. The biggest problem I have had is that the switch on the pedal is on the opposite side on my Minnkota and I catch myself pressing the switch that is not there from all the years using a Motor Guide.
52 MK maxum on the 202 does the trick nicely![]()
Get the 52....you can raise it up but you cant make the 50 any longer.
get the 52" mine is a 45" and i hate it on windy days.....im lookin at having mine lengthned this summer
Thanks,That is what I was afraid of.Have not had mine long enough to fish in main river area of Pickwick lake on a windy day.But I had a feeling that a short shaft was gonna be a problem.Used to be a MG guy but everyone says there mounting sys.aint what it should be.Also MK offers a dual freq.transducer in there tm and mg doesnt. That may be a deciding factor.Any more input would be app.R.B.
