07 183 CX Jack plate adjustment and outcome

Hey folks, Champ set the jack plate at the factory with a pad to prop shaft of 3.5 inches. The boat set a large rooster tail and lost bite when turning. I started playing with the Slide Master and after trial and error 4.25 gave me the best top end and releaved prop slippage. Looking over the site-posts; 4.25 seems to be low for a Champ. Any of you find a lowered setting working well on a Champ?

61 was my best top end speed, seems like that's about right based on my research.

Would like to think more prop in the water would be better when battling the big rollers on GreenBay. I'M headed up there the third week of June for smallies.

PS: gotta love those speedos it showed me bumping 65 my GPS showed 61!

Those are interesting results to me for sure. I may need to put my plate down and that low to run it and see what I get out of it.

How was your bow lift with the motor that low, and what were your rpms?

No noticible change at all in bow lift, RPM's at 5500-5600, boat planes in a blink of an eye at very modest throttle. Really like the plane; as many of my lakes are shallow and the faster I get on plane the better

What motor do you have , I have a 150 HO with a 22 raker, have a 23 tempest on order but I am not sure of the motor height , full trim rooster tail just below the cowl my top speed 62.5 gps speedo was 65. I will measure the height and let you know

If I measured it right I am at 4.50 , great hole shot , and rides high . It gets a little walk going with just me at wot, not as bad with two people, rpm at 5600 . I am going to try the 23 tempest plus next week
